MTEN 417 — Polymer Processing & Technology II
Materials Science and Engineering · University of Ghana
This course details the important characteristics of polymeric materials and in addition, their various types and processing techniques. The course will therefore answer the following questions: what are the various characteristics of polymeric materials? What are the process techniques that can be used to fabricate polymeric products? How does the polymeric properties influence the choice of processing techniques? What is polymer rheology? How does the rheological properties of polymers influence their processing technique? Different polymer processing techniques such as extrusion, injection molding, casting, thermo forming, blow and rotational molding will be covered. Determination of volumetric properties of polymer and the estimation of transition and melting temperatures will also be treated. Departmental Requirements For Graduation In addition to the University and School requirements, to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, a student must take and pass the core courses and the prescribed electives of their study option listed below with a grade not less than D:
