UGRC 235 — Introduction to African Studies/Dagbani

Course Description This is a beginner‘s course for non-native speakers of a Ghanaian language-Dagbani. The course is designed to introduce second year students who cannot speak, understand or read Dagbani to the language. It is a semesterlong course to be taken in either the first or second semester of every academic year at the discretion of the student. It is a three credit course, and two contact hours will be used every week for teaching and an additional hour for tutorials. The main components of the course are: Issues in African languages Reading, comprehension and vocabulary development Grammar Writing Listening and Speaking The culture of the language community
