DANS 423 — Introduction to Dance Anthropology I

This course entails the study of dance in its cultural context and provides students with knowledge of conceptual elements that underpin dance as an academic discipline, as well as how these elements relate to humanity. It provides students with analytical and evaluative tools with which they are able to apply academic thoughts to various African dance forms. It draws on multidisciplinary technique to integrate theory and practice in opening new perspectives in dance to enrich students‘ understanding and experience.
