This is a survey of French poetry from 17th century to date. It surveys the most famous poems of the major poetic currents of the 19th century French poetry. Selections from Racine, Corneille, Lamar tine, Hugo, Baudelaire, Verlaine, and Pervert etc would form the basis for the appreciation of poetry. Featuring prominently in the list of poetic movements is classicism, Romanticism, symbolism, Realism and Surrealism. The main characteristic of each movement would be presented.
