FREN 474 — Advanced French Translation II (English into French)

This course is intended to help students to translate French texts in the Physical and Applied Sciences into English. Particular attention will be given to vocabulary (names of phenomena, names of operation, use of primary verbs), connecting particles and various markers of objectivity. Students will be encouraged to build their own stock of vocabulary through private endeavour and avoid the tendency to systematically have recourse to dictionaries.
