This course explores various theoretical perspectives on development. Also, it provides a general understanding of the basic concepts of development (underdeveloped, developing, and developed). It examines major social issues, emphasizes the social consequences of globalization, North/South power relations and structural adjustment programmes. It analyses the dynamic relationship between social issues and development.
