MTEN 313 — Electrical, Magnetic And Optical Properties Of Materials
Materials Science and Engineering · University of Ghana
FAEN 109, 108, MTEN 201) This course provides a study of all electrical and magnetic properties of all materials. The differences with regard to the type of magnetic property are discussed. The course also talks about semiconductor Physics: defects and impurities control through physical purification. It is then extended to some semi-conductor devices. Electrical conductivity, Semiconductors, Superconductors, Oxide superconductors, Magnetic Susceptibility, Diamagnetism and Paramagnetism, Ferromagnetism, magnetic materials (alloys, Metals, ceramics); Antiferromagnetic and Ferrimagnetism; Dielectric Materials (Polarisation, capacitors& Insulators, piezoelectric materials, pyroelectric and ferroelectric materials.
